What does Jesus Christ want me to do?

Acts 9:6  "And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?.........."

Sometimes we tend to dwell more over what we want Christ to do for us and not what he wants us to do. He never asks too much from us, never asks us more than he knows that we can do. At times we tend to think it is hard but our strength does not come from "within" or in "meditation" but directly from Christ. 
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things in Christ which strengtheneth me"
   Nothing is impossible when Christ is with us.
So "What does Christ want of me?" 
 Looking back at the text, we see that Saul (now Paul) recognized the authority of Jesus and asked for guidance. 
    How many Christians continually ask the Lord for guidance. Many think that Cristianity is receiving the Lord and then carrying on with their life as before less a few of the vices and bad habits. That is "religiosity"

What does Christ want of me? 
I. He wants that you are sure of your salvation. He wants that you know without doubt that you have eternal life.
And how can you be sure?

a) 2 Corinthians 5:17 - you have a new life it is not the same as the old one - born again. Birth is a one time experience, spiritual birth is the same, it is a one time experience.

b) Romans 10:13 For you obedience to the Word of God accepting and believing in Christ, brings the promise of eternal life. Accepting Christ as your saviour involves repentment of sin and asking forgiveness.

c)1John 5:11-13 Because the word of God is True.

II. Acts 2:41-47  He wants you to confess publically and follow Him in obedience in as much as:
a) Baptism in water - Some Christians do not take the step of baptism in water because they think they are "not ready for the commitment". To be honest brothers and sisters that is a feeble excuse. If you were ready to accept salvation by the confession of sins to the one that is greater than all, Jesus Christ, then what other decision or commitment do you think there is left to take? Baptism is a sign of OBEDIENCE not of choice! It is an outward sign to all that you want to die to the old and live the new. it is an action confirming the words you spoke when you received the Lord Jesus Christ.
Through your baptism you are telling all that you believe and are sure that you have your salvation and that there is new life in Christ.
b) Becoming a member of a church - being a member of a church includes spiritual growth, communion, sharing the word with others, helping others, working in the ministry of God. What better way to show the world how the word of God works than in your actions? Being a member of a church shows your obedience to God and his protection over you.

III. 1Peter 2:1-3  He wants that you grow and become a strong and faithful disciple.
There are 4 things indespensable for spiritual growth:

a) Food - The Word of God. Jesus once said "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4)

b) Breathing - our spiritual breath is prayer - every word that we speak to and receive from God. Prayer is a two way channel. Make time to speak to God and time to listen to Him. Talk about all things, your family, your work, your relationships, your needs and your gratitude.

c) Exercise - spiritual exercise is "doing things" don't be a "religious couch potato" you will get fat and lazy, you will become luke warm, neither hot nor cold, and you know what the Word of God says about that!
Use your energy to take the Word of God to those that are waiting, help others, serve in your church, the temple of God, be an example to others.

d) Rest - learn to rest on the word of God and in him. This means praise and worship, both public (in the temple of the Lord) and in private (your high room, your high altar).

IV.  1 John 5:4 He wants you to be victorious un your daily life. 

a) 1John 4:4 The Christian life is full of obstacles and battles, but we are sure that we have victory inHim.

b) 1Jn 1:9 There will be times when we fail in our Christian life, when we stray from the path. Times of disobedience and failures - we are all human and we all sin. But be sure of your victory over sin through Jesus Christ. We can be cleansed and set free of our daily sins. Confess your sins daily, better still thrice daily - do not try to hide your sins from God, He knows everything.


What is it that God wants of me?
What is it that God wants from you?
a) He wants us to be sure of our salvation
b) He wants us to be obedient
c) he wants us to grow into good disciples 
d) He wants us to be victorious in our life

Is this too much for Him to ask of us?
Can you do it?
"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENETH ME" philippians 4:13

If you have never received Christ as your Saviour, maybe now is the time. If you feel you want to, the steps are easy:
1. Admit that you are a sinner and in need of cleansing
2. Recognize Christ's sacrifice on the cross. His blood shed to cleanse us of our sins.
3. Confess of your sins. This means with repentment of the heart.
4. Receive his gift of salvation with joy.

If you feel ready just say it in prayer to God, maybe this prayer will help you:
"Lord God, I recognize that i am a sinner and need to be forgiven. I recognize your sacrifice on the cross as the only means of forgiveness of sins and that only you can forgive me. I repent of all my sins of word, thought and of deed. I invite you into my heart to abide with me. I trust you as saviour and follow you as Lord. Thank you for saving me and giving me the gift of eternal life."
